A Class of 2040 grow with me shirt is not really a shirt for this September - it is the prop for a fourteen-year photo series. You buy it in an adult size while your preschooler is still small, take the first-day picture on the same step every year, and press one thumbprint into the next empty circle. WHY THUMBPRINTS AND NOT HANDPRINTS
The print area on a t-shirt is 14 by 16 inches. Fourteen palm-sized slots do not fit in it, which is why handprint grids end up with squares a kindergartener already covers three at a time. A thumbprint needs less than an inch. Every circle on this shirt is a full inch across, all fourteen grades fit on the front, and nothing about a thumb grows enough to outgrow its slot.
